We use CBD with the kittens and cats we rescue and rehome and find it works well for them. Their systems tend to be more sensitive to the calming effects of CBD, making it a wonderful tool for transporting them, vet visits, acclimating to new environments, and supporting their recovery after spay or neuter procedures.
While dog-focused CBD research dominates, there are early-stage feline studies looking at dosing and tolerability in cats with chronic pain or anxiety.
Cats metabolize both CBD and gabapentin slower than dogs due to their limited glucuronidation pathways in the liver. This means CBD stays in their system longer, so lower doses are often effective and dosing intervals may be extended.
